Diovan

GENERIC NAME(S): Valsartan

Uses

Valsartan, sold under the trade name Diovan among others. Valsartan is used to treat high blood pressure and heart failure. It is also used to improve the chances of staying longer after heart attack. In people with heart failure, heart failure may be less likely to go to hospital. Diovan belongs to a class of drugs called angiotensin receptor blockers (ARBs). It works by relaxing the blood vessels so that the blood flows more easily. Reducing hypertension helps in preventing stroke, heart attack and kidney problems.

How to use Diovan

If you start taking a Valsartan or Diovan from your pharmacist and every time you get a refill, read the details of the patient’s information. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.
Directly take this medication by mouth or by your doctor at home without taking food, usually once or twice daily. Dosage is based on your medical condition and treatment response. For children, the dose is also based on weight.
If you are using the liquid form of Diovan then stir the bottle well for at least 10 seconds before each dose. Measure the dose carefully using special measuring instruments / spoon. Do not use domestic spoon because you can not get the right dose.
Use this drug regularly to get the most benefit. To help you remember, take it at the same time every day. Keep taking this medication even if you feel OK. Most people with high blood pressure do not feel sick.
Tell your doctor if you are not better or if you get worse (for example, your blood pressure readings are high or increased).

Side Effects

Precautions

Before taking Valsartan or Diovan, tell your doctor or pharmacist whether you are allergic to it; Or if you have any other allergens. This product can have passive elements, which can cause allergic or other problems. Talk to your pharmacist for more details.
Before using Diovan, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, in particular: liver disease, excessive body water and mineral (dehydration).

Notes

Do not share this medication with others.
Changes in lifestyle that can help this drug work better include exercising, smoking and eating low cholesterol / low fat diet. Consult your doctor for more details.
Labs and / or medical tests (such as the Kidney Function Test, Potassium Level) should be done when you are taking this medication. Keep all medical and lab appointments.

Missed Dose

Storage

Store tablets / capsules at room temperature, away from light and moisture. Do not store in the bathroom. Keep all medications away from children and pets.
